Remote Learning Platforms

FACTS (renweb)

  • If your school already uses FACTS, you may know that FACTS LMS (Learning Management System) can be used to communicate between teacher, parent, and student. They can view assignments, lesson plans, due dates, resources, etc.
  • FACTS SIS (Student Information System) can connect to their LMS (Learning Management system).
  • Can work together with Google Classroom.

Google Classroom

  • Allows teachers to create classes, distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one spot.
  • Free with Google for Education or Google for Nonprofits.

Google Hangouts Meet

  • Made for businesses, works much like Zoom (see below).
  • Up to 250 participants, live stream video calls, and recorded calls.
  • Free with Google for Education until July 1st.

Zoom

  • Video meeting platform. Students can turn on and off their cameras and microphones allowing for both lecture and discussion. Everyone in the meeting can communicate with a chat box. Teachers can show slides off their computers.
  • 40 minute per meeting restriction can be lifted for k-12 schools, but you may need to be approved.

Webex

  • Specifically for classrooms. Gives teachers a space where classes can message, video call, share files, access a whiteboard, etc. 
  • Webex has expanded what it can do for free due to the coronavirus. Click here to see their offer in more detail.

Loom

  • Allows teachers to record and quickly edit videos of themselves and their computer screens. 
  • They have also expanded what they offer for free. Click here to see their offer in more detail.
