““War Within the Soul” is a portrait of myself that represents my personal feelings of
walking through grief. When I was 16 years old, I lost my father. The feelings I experienced
were shredding to my soul. On one side, I was so angry that I had to walk through all this pain.
The anger was overpowering all that was good and beautiful in my life. However, the other side
of the portrait represents my calm and good side of myself. The hand that is reaching over to the
dark side is trying to calm the rage that is going out of control. Furthermore, “War Within the
Soul” can also represent how all of us have felt the battles within ourselves. We have all
struggled with wars in our souls whether it is grief or struggling with our faith. ”
