I painted this portrait in response to a class prompt to use color
to represent a Biblical hero. Joseph of the Old Testament seems
to me a good example of how to trust in God even in changing
circumstances. My grandmother is a watercolor artist and is an
artistic inspiration to me although she is not internationally known.
I like how watercolor paints blend together, and flow gently, which
is what I hoped to achieve in this work; light flowing colors give
an artistry that is in contrast to hyper-realistic styles sometimes
used with acrylic and oil paint. I had taken a break from the
medium, but was wanting to try my hand at it again.
