2016 Workshop Talk | 1:05:36 | Budgets & Finance, Fundraising & Development, Leadership & Strategic, Marketing & Growth
Summary
Perhaps one of the most dangerous lies that has been propagated in the Christian school movement is that your parents can’t afford your tuition. ISM has demonstrated this to be false in all but a few extreme cases across the nation (some urban or rural schools mostly). The result of this mentality is a host of financial sins perpetrated mostly on Christian school faculty, and all in the name of “ministry” even as the Lexus drives by in car pool! Of the thousands of Christian schools that have closed down in the last decade, ask yourself how many were charging a high tuition … ? The truth is your parents CAN afford your school, but many are choosing not to due to a lack of demonstration that the experience is truly transformational or relevant to their lives. Join Bill Simmer, ISM’s director of association relations, as we confront this “stinkin” thinkin’ about school finance and move as an industry from a mentality of “famine” to a mentality of “abundance.”
Speaker
Bill Simmer has been with Independent School Management (ISM) for 12 years and acts as ISM’s chief liaison with state, regional, national, and international associations. He manages ISM’s many relationships with these associations, and works with our association partners to create powerful professional development experiences. Bill came out of the Christian school movement and his life’s mission and passion is to see industry best practices manifest themselves in Christian schools with the end result being the transformation of children’s lives.
