2016 Workshop Talk | 0:35:41 | All Grade Levels, Virtue, Character, Discipline
Summary
In my first year of teaching, I constantly felt like I had to have it all put together for my students. I’m now in my fifth year of teaching, and still face the same temptation. But I’ve learned that this kind of mindset not only makes teaching exhausting, it also inhibits my ability to effectively communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ. What message do I send my students when I claim to need Jesus, but am always relying on my own abilities and strengths in the classroom? If we want our students to possess a heart of dependence on the saving work of Christ, they must first see that heart modeled in the lives of their teachers. My hope is that this workshop will cultivate in you a desire to make much of God and less of self in the classroom, and that, in turn, your students will do the same.
