I have always been amazed by the human hand. They not only preform ordinary tasks, but also create beautiful things, like glass. Both hands and glass are often overlooked because of their familiarity. Therefore, in this piece, I wanted to highlight the beauty of both hands and glass, and make the viewer see the beauty in something so common. I used the hands of myself and family which are most familiar to me. For this project, I was inspired by the painter Pieter Claesz. I strove to imitate the realism he used in his still lifes, especially for the glass.
