I took inspiration from a woman named Beth Little that I met in the Las Vegas Arts District. She was doing realistic portraits on denim with fabric paint. She masterfully mixed the colors before applying them to the fabric creating simple portraits that displayed the inner thoughts of the subject. She pointed out one portrait on a denim jacket, and explained who he was, and I thought of the value of preserving this boy on this jacket. She could explain who he was. She knew the mind of the face she was painting. I wanted to recreate this simple, but impactful portrait style with someone that greatly impacted my life. Who better than the woman who taught me to do portraits, my art teacher.
