Watching the sunset has always been something I have enjoyed, but this one was special. I took a photograph after a long day’s work at the Christian camp I volunteer for in the summer. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking in person, and my friends and I took it as a sign from God- as His “Thank you” for spreading His Word into the lives of these young children.
So, when we were instructed a few months ago in art class to make an Impressionist painting, I knew I had to choose this picture. After studying the works of Alfred Sisley, I was also inspired by “A Path in Louveciennes.” Sisley had very thick, choppy brushstrokes but still managed to make his painting look complete and united which I really admire. I tried to do the same with my piece, and though it was not done en plein air and may not be perfect, I hold this piece very near and dear to my heart.
