I am influenced by the work of impressionist painters like Monet, Van Gogh, and Renoir, especially their landscapes. I so love and admire their use of color and shape to capture beautiful scenery. I took the photo that inspired this painting last summer at sunrise during my family’s vacation to the Gulf of Mexico. Behind the camera, my brother and I were taking a walk together at dawn, our favorite vacation tradition. Painting this scene was special to me because I was reminded of time spent with one of my favorite people, and I hope to convey those feelings through the piece.
