Summary:
I want to work in education as a career as a high school art or history teacher. I recently graduated from college with a Bachelors of Arts. I majored with a Political Science, Philosophy, Economics, and Law degree and a minor in History. I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades religion, spelling, math, English, literature, history, led and assisted gym classes, and supervised lunches, recesses, and study halls. for St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights. I am investigating enrolling for a Masters in Teaching from National Louis University as my first choice school or Northeastern Illinois University as my second. I am learning from teachers at St. Peter how to manage a classroom. I am also inspired by administration leaders I have met. I could see myself working in there some day, if that’s where I am needed. I would also compete for physical education instructor positions. Extracurricularly, I can coach defensive backs in football, shooting guards in basketball, relays in track, and/or volleyball players.

Sacraments – God’s intended means of instilling his life to people. They are the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. God operates through them to movingly and materially to demonstrate himself to us.
Word – the word and the gospel are God’s primary means of giving life to people. Hearing God speak through it is like food and water that our spirit needs daily.
Belief in the inerrancy of Scripture?: Yes
Notes on Scripture: Scripture is like beautiful music. It also the best story ever told. God, being inventor of music and stories, tells us beautifully, heroically, and specfically his work throughout time.
Jesus is the Word. He never misses a moral teaching, a historical detail, an emphasis, a tone, anything. It is our job to interpret written scripture as we imagine the Word himself would.
Additional classical training: Studied introductory and elementary Greek at University of Richmond. Learned articles, cases, and tenses like aorist, and read translations of playwrights like Aristophanes.
Read Contemporary and Classic Christian books from Center for Christian Study. These included “Return of the God Hypothesis” by Dr. Stephen Meyer and Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis
Why I want to teach at a classical school: I love working in education and I want to keep working with kids. Christian classical education draws me in because I love Christ, children, and making classics accessible to everyone.
Final thoughts: Hearing about opportunities to work in education in any capacity would thrill me.
