You may find this textbook helpful, but Ms. Crowley relies heavily on environmentalist nonsense and politically correct doublespeak that turns out to be a misuse of Rhetoric. She includes passages from environmentalist doomsday prophets from the 1970s, speculating that the sky over Denver would be black by the year 2000 or so (now long past). Some of her stuff is ridiculous. She also has a section on Garp that might be shocking to students (I always sent home a warning before I assigned students to read it). Thank you for the review of the current edition. As the reviewer notes, in today’s marketplace, there are likely better options for students.
The text would be helpful for any teacher who needs an introduction to ancient rhetoric.
