Teaching History

In the Grammar school your options for history curricula are broad. Veritas Press’ curriculum (with the “history cards”) are especially popular. Their history curriculum can track with their Bible curriculum.

In high school, things get a bit more serious. Schools often use college level texts, such as Spielvogel (which some consider the golden standard). But beware of revisions to this text and others like it. Some newer editions of old standards such as that of Hollister’s medieval history are less than ideal.

Another route is to use or at least supplement with ancient sources. For instance, the Landmark series publishes texts by Greek and Roman historians such as Herodotus and Julius Caesar with notes and maps.
