11″ x 14″, Oil on canvas
Over the past 4 years, I have found a love for realistic artwork of animals. My passion for bow hunting in the Texas Hill Country has truly inspired my artwork as I constantly get to see the beauty and gracefulness of animals such as the whitetail deer. I have based this piece of art off Sir Edward Landseer’s works, especially the Monarch of Glen. The way he captured the shadows and the detail in the nose and antlers of the elk influenced my work greatly. I tried my hardest to get every little detail of the bumps on the antler to show the uniqueness of this buck. I used a photo taken by a good friend of mine, Hunter Shannon, who loves to capture images of deer in Willow City, Texas, to show the beauty of God’s creation.
