Summary


Ravi Scott Jain, for the past ten years, has taught an integrated calculus and physics double-period class at the Geneva School in Orlando called “The Scientific Revolution” which has often included an Advanced Placement option In this workshop, Mr Jain will present the basic ideas behind the class and explore the steps required to implement a similar program at one’s own school.

After graduating from Davidson College, Ravi Scott Jain worked at various churches while finishing his master’s degree at Reformed Theological Seminary. He has been teaching AP Calculus and AP Physics at the Geneva School in Orlando since 2003 through an integrated approach that interweaves math, science, philosophy, and theology. During this tenure he has sought to understand and champion the role of math and science in a Christian classical curriculum. Over the past four years he has had the opportunity to deliver over 35 talks or workshops on these topics at various schools and conferences across the country. He recently coauthored The Liberal Arts Tradition: A Philosophy of Christian Classical Education with Kevin Clark which was published in 2013. Besides teaching, writing, and spending time with his family, he is also engaged in further graduate studies in mathematics at the University of Central Florida.
