Summary
In this workshop, primary teachers will learn how to successfully implement a systematic phonics and literature program in grades K_2. Participants will get the overall view and numerous practical teaching strategies. Simple tools and techniques will be given to help maximize students’ time engaging in the lesson and instilling in them a love for literature.
Speaker
Brooke Voelp has been a classroom teacher for 18 years. She has taught second grade for seven years and first grade for four years at Rockbridge Academy. She has previously spoken at the national ACCS convention about the grammar of history and multiple times at Rockbridge Academy’s summer teacher training. Brooke holds a bachelorÍs degree in elementary education from the University of Maryland and a masterÍs degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola University. Brooke has been married to her husband, Bill, for 24 years and they have two children, Corrine (21), a graduate of Rockbridge Academy, and Jacob (15), who will be entering the 11th grade.
