Summary

The expectation of leaders to design and implement strategic plans is well known. There are a number of books in popular business literature about such planning. While this session will give participants an opportunity to learn a model of strategic planning, we will begin with a biblical understanding of strategic planning. For example, what are a few passages of Scripture in which someone seeks data or information upon which to base a decision? What about passages of Scripture in which a person or group realizes what they should do as the primary focus of their ministry or activity? Let’s learn from God’s Word the spiritual dimensions of planning and then use those effectively to steward the responsibilities He has given us.

Speaker

Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver was elected as Union University’s 16th president in 2014. Under his leadership, Union began and completed construction of The Logos, a new 54,000-square-foot library that opened in November 2015. The three-story facility is a state-of-the-art academic resource center for the university featuring expanded space for library holdings, study and meeting rooms, the Modero coffee shop, administration offices and archives. Oliver led Union in 2015 to adopt “United in Spirit. Grounded in Truth.” a strategic plan to guide the work of the university over the next five years.
