Summary

Our school was flooded during Hurricane Harvey. Providentially, we had just completed online training through FEMA that positioned us to take quick and decisive action to mitigate the damage, unite our school community, and recover quickly. This workshop will review practical perspective on how to prepare for a crisis before it happens. Were it not for the providentially timed training that we received through FEMA, we would not have been as effective in mitigating the damages from the flood (which were extensive). Decisive and quick action in any situation can be the difference between success and failure. Attendees who seek out this kind of training and apply it to their school’s infrastructure will be in a better position to respond to any crisis. As C.S. Lewis said, favorable conditions never occur; we need to be prepared.
