Summary

Starting a new school is one of the most exciting and challenging endeavors that a small group of parents and teachers can take on. Even with wonderful start-up guides and books, there is much to think about when establishing a new school in a community where classical education is not understood. I have had the privilege of walking alongside several new and young schools. There are some common themes and cautions that can be helpful to the next start-up. This workshop will review critical aspects that should be dealt with early on so that the new school is building on a strong foundation.

Speaker

Harold Naylor has been associated with the Christian school movement since he joined The Christian Academy in Pennsylvania as director of advancement. During his eight-year tenure he conceived of and co-founded DiscoverChristianSchools. com, an online apologetic for Christian schooling. From 2009 to 2016, Harold worked at Tall Oaks Classical School in Delaware as director of stewardship. He is president of Advance Christian Schools, a mentoring and coaching organization. Harold has spoken on biblical stewardship at the national conference of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS). Prior to his experience in Christian schooling Harold was the business manager for a DuPont biotechnology company start-up in Delaware, a business turnaround consultant in Texas, general manager for a kitchen equipment manufacturer in Texas, and controller for a construction company in Mississippi.
