2016 Foundations Talk | 1:04:32 | All Grade Levels, General Classroom
Summary
There are many different cultural assumptions that creep unwelcomed into my classroom. Assumptions that actively confront many of my learning objectives are that: (1) answers are better than questions, (2) accuracy is better than beauty, and (3) education is synonymous with school. How can we combat these and woo our students to change? I want to start a conversation with educators about practical things I have tried and want to continue to explore as we move to cultivate virtuous lifelong learners.
Speaker
Brittany Hartke, originally from the Seattle area, graduated from New Saint Andrews College in 2010, but headed south, and has been teaching at Trinitas Christian School in Pensacola, FL, ever since. She is currently pursuing her masterÍs degree at St. JohnÍs College in Annapolis, Maryland. In her classroom she enjoys discussing the beauty and complexity of the medieval cosmos, with a cup of tea. Outside of the classroom Miss Hartke directs the drama club, yearbook, League of Houses, and whatever else sounds fun.
