2011 Workshop Talk | 1:00:23 | All Grade Levels, Logic

Download

Summary

As a discipline, logic originated in the Socratic quest for definition. The actual demands of everyday argument, on the street or in the classroom, throws the importance of definition into clearest relief. Given that every argument involves a semantic, inferential, and evidential side, this workshop will (1) explain the centrality of semantics, (2) explore its relevance to evaluating inference and evidence, (3) provide tools for clarifying our thinking and resolving disputes, and (4) provide guidelines for using these tools to promote the unity and purity of the Body of Christ.
