2015 Workshop Talk | 1:03:16 | All Grade Levels, Latin, Greek & Language
Summary
Even when students know Latin vocabulary and paradigms, their enjoyment of classical literature is often hampered by a lack of fluency. In order to correct this deficiency, I have developed a classroom exercise which keeps students speaking and thinking about Latin in Latin. We call it a colloquium and it has quickly become the most entertaining and lively part of my classes. In this workshop session, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a mini-colloquium. Visual aids and other supplements will be provided. A question and answer time will follow.
Speaker
Thomas Caucutt (a graduate of Hillsdale College) is head of the Latin department at Evangel Classical Christian School in Alabaster, AL. In his 10 years at ECCS he has taught Latin at every level K_12. He continues to develop the entire Latin program at ECCS, train and supervise other full time Latin teachers, and advise on all matters of classical education, the liberal arts, and the unity of all disciplines in Christ.
