Summary
Spell to Write and Read is an Orton/Spalding based program that teaches the 70 basic phonograms and 29 spelling rules of the English language. With these simple tools you can explain 99% of the 1000 most commonly used English words and their derivatives. Contrary to the popular belief that the English language is riddled with exceptions and rule breakers you can now have a way to explain our language and its spelling to your children so that they can understand and succeed. It is a comprehensive curriculum that integrates spelling, handwriting, reading, and some basic grammar principles. It is multisensory, meeting the needs of every learning style. It lays a complete foundation for spelling and reading by teaching children to “think to spell” using the most common words in the English language ordered according to difficulty. Unlike other phonics programs the student begins with spelling and naturally progresses to reading.
