Summary

Authority. Obedience. Submission. As twenty-first century Americans„particularly twenty-first century American Christians, these words oftentimes pinch us and make us feel a bit uneasy. Yet they’re concepts which have clear and defensible biblical pedigrees. In light of such obvious biblical teaching, why do these words continue to make us feel so uncomfortable? Could it be, just perhaps, that we’ve been more influenced by modern culture than we care to admit? As classical Christian teachers, our schools will be hampered in their ability to impact our culture for Christ if we don’t learn not only to come to terms with these terms, but also to embrace them, along with the humility and Trinitarian worldview they’re built upon.
