2016 Workshop Talk | 1:00:48 | All Grade Levels, Math
Summary
Few areas challenge the mathematics teacher more than teaching mathematics well in a passionately Christian way. In this workshop, we will examine the lives and philosophies of three great mathematicians (Descartes, Pascal, and Euler), exploring how they thought about and lived out the relationship between faith in Christ and reason, as well as faith in Christ and mathematics. We will gain a better understanding of the lives and thoughts of these great men, deepening our knowledge of the history of mathematics. In addition, as we consider how they approached the interaction between faith and mathematics, we will gain insight into teaching mathematics well in a passionate, authentically Christian manner.
