2018 Leaders Day Talk | 46:35 | All Grade Levels, Curriculum Overviews, General Classroom
Summary
In this talk I’ll be covering the key concepts of backward design, why it’s a great way for Christian schools to think about their educational program, and what the proper roles for boards and administrators should be in leading teachers to implement backward design at the program, department, and course level.
Speaker
Josh Simmons is a humanities teacher at Regents School of Austin, one of the largest classical Christian schools in the country. Since he’s been at Regents he has taught Modern European History, Ancient and Classical History, Ancient and Classical Literature, coached the varsity boys’ soccer team, and led the junior trip to Europe for the last four years. He lives in the country with his wife, three children, and his five chickens. When not tending to the property or the young souls in his charge, he enjoys spending time reading (especially G.K. Chesterton, Wendell Berry, and Evelyn Waugh) and discussing theology, philosophy, and politics.
