A cordial conversation between two ACCS teachers regarding Intelligent Design from classical Christian perspectives. Nicholas DiDonato raises concerns about ID’s compatibility with the classical Christian tradition, specifically in regards to theology and teleology. Joel maintains that the Intelligent Design argument is a useful framework for scientific investigation and that some iterations of it are compatible with the classical Christian tradition.

Joel is an alumnus from The Oaks, a classical Christian School in Spokane, Washington, where he has taught science and the history and philosophy of science for the last nine years. He also currently serves as the Department Head of Science. He has received an AA from New Saint Andrews College, a BS from the University of Idaho, an MS from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MA from Biola’s Talbot School of Theology. He resides in Spokane, Washington, with his wife of seventeen years, Mary, and their three children.

Nicholas C. DiDonato, Ph.D, teaches history and theology at Delaware Valley Classical School. He has published in Theology & Science, appeared on Reason & Theology, and presented at the ACCS annual conference. His research focuses on the intersection of theology, metaphysics, and philosophy of science. He is currently pursuing ordination to the diaconate in the Orthodox Church in America.
