Prismacolor colored pencil on bristol paper

The influence behind my piece was an American artist known as Norman Rockewell who painted “photo-like” scenes displaying some form of action or aftermath of an exciting occurrence. His work displayed natural poses, celebrations, emotions, and moments in time that could relate to his audience. I was influenced to copy the natural aspect of the piece, yet my detail was represented differently- through the technique of cross-hatching. “A Moment in Time” displays two teenagers, who are participating in a celebration of sorts in a natural setting which would be a half-messy table at home. Although some aspects of the piece seem to appear layered and blended, it is actually cross-hatching in a more precise and heavily applied manner. The depiction of celebrating can reach most of the audience in relatability, while remaining aesthetically pleasing to the eye which is the goal of this piece.
